Kid Color LIVE at Smart Bar (4/13/2012)

First and foremost: HUGE shout out of to Mr. Bonkerz, Business Casual Disco, and Orchard Lounge for providing D.C. with some very fine dance parties this weekend. Oh, and we can't forget the readers we were able to meet. DPC had an amazing time dancing and partying our asses off with you all.

The weekend is gone, and it’s back to reality. That doesn't mean the fun stops completely though.  The Windy City native, Kyle “Kid Color” Woods has got a little something for today’s disco dance party. It’s a live mix recorded at SmartBar where he currently holds a residency. -The DPC crew may need to take a road trip out there, as SmartBar is also home to a few of our favorite selectors like Orchard Lounge and Kate Simko- The set was recorded earlier this month and is a meeting of Disco for lovers and partiers alike. The first half of the mix is rowderier with a bit of sex appeal sprinkled about. The Only Children - “Richard Morris” to a Revenge rework of Marvin Gaye's “Heavy Love Affair” segment  is just great in it's selection and mixing.

Crazy P Live at the Electric Pickle (Miami, FL)

Hello, Lover.

I was talking to the chocolate, not you, invisible internet friend. Sorry I'm not sorry but I was totally having a moment with the biggest box of chocolates I have ever laid my eyes on. And it was beautiful. So beautiful that I ate like 10 of those pieces of chocolate that weren't even mine (woops?) And then demanded my co-worker document said beautiful moment.

But you know what's even more beautiful? Live music that is released via Soundcloud when you're really bummed that a band/DJ/producer didn't come to DC, but went to a few other places.

So here's a live set from Crazy P (!!!!) when they made a stop in Miami, Florida at The Electric Pickle. It's 70 minutes of pure dance party goodness (holy half-way mark - funky dance parties ensues!!!), and that my friends, is one thing that (unfortunately) chocolate can't give me.

And yes, I'm still totally in love with Danielle Moore's heavenly voice. And typing Crazy P, and saying it in my head still totally makes me giggle.

Disco and Friends!

Here's a live mix recorded at DC's 930club BackBar. Our DPC friend, Mr. Bonkerz , does a monthly disco soirée by the name of "Shenaniganz". And I can tell you first hand, it is just that! Disco (and a bit of House), dancing, whiskey, and cookies (if you can beat Becca to them!) make a for a night of...well...you get it. The most recent of these nights was this past Saturday (8/13/2011); Mr. Bonkerz was joined by another DC resident DJ, by the name of Space Agent. The two combined forces to throw down a serious 2hr 45min set. I couldn't make it unfortunately, so we'll just have to live with the regret of not being there to get down while the heat was being dropped live and direct. There's always next month....

We're in luck though, as the wonders of technology and the interwebz allow us the opportunity to relive this dance party whenever we want....so till next month...Enjoy!
