Summer Series GuestMix Vol. 4 - Sare Havlicek - Dance Party Chronicles MIXTAPE

After a marathon weekend of dance parties that included the likes of Poolside, Tim Sweeney, RAC, The Knocks, Danny Daze and DPC residents Remote CTRL and Mr. Bonkerz, Dance Party Chronicles is pleased to present the fourth installment of our Summer Series GuestMixes courtesy of Slovenian artist/producer Sare Havlicek.

Sare is a man that should need no introduction on this blog as we have posted about him several times before. In the 90’s he helped define Slovenian house and techno. Since then he has established himself as a producer and refined his sound as a musician. In 2010 he released a his first full length cosmic disco album, Tuscana Nights. He released his second full length album, Escape Machine, in March 2012, and it is undoubtedly one of my favorite albums from this year. Just last month he dropped a new EP, Bipolar Duality. This EP features three new tracks from Sare, as well as a remix by Casio Social Club. Check out the preview below:

We have had the pleasure of presenting some incredible guest mixes over our first year in operation, but this one could very well be my personal favorite. This mix is perfect for Disco lovers and House fans that like to swim at the deep end of the pool. It starts off with the Jay West’s upbeat Caribbean Disco remix of Jonny Hopkinson’s “We Live.” The mix begins to get deeper as it leads into what is probably my favorite track of the mix, Chas Bronz’s “Renegades of the New Age Funk.” If this doesn't make you want to move, you might want to check your pulse. Sare included an unreleased track of his, titled “Diamond Back (Part 4)” from his forthcoming Diamondback EP - due in October on Nang Records as 12" vinyl (in the form of a continuous mix) and digital (separate tracks).  “Diamond Back (Part 1 and 2)” as well as “Diamond Back (Part 5)” book-ended Escape Machine. DB Part 4 leads into a dance floor destroying remix of Scandel’s “Just Let Me Dance” by Maxxi Soundsytem. The mix is rounded out nicely by Cori Josias’s funky synth bass backed Disco burner “Takin Straight.”

Sare not only provided us this incredible mix to share with you all, he was nice enough to answer some questions for us as well.

Sare Havlicek- In the Mix for Mixmag

Yesterday Mixmag released a new mix from Sare Havlicek that we had to share with you. Sare Havlicek is a DJ and producer from Slovenia. He describes his music as " Housified Discotastic Pop." Now does that sound like something you might be interested in? I first heard of Mr. Havlicek about 6 months ago when he released Disco Recreation Episode 1. I was blown away that he was able to make a two hour mix that was so incredible from front to back. After hearing Disco Recreation Episode 2, another 2-hour mix that is nothing short of amazing, I knew this guy was the real deal.

This mix once again displays his talent as a DJ as well as his talent as a producer. It features two tracks from Sare's recently released album, Escape Machine (Nang Records). You can preview Escape Machine here, purchase it on Beatport here or listen to it on Youtube here. It really is a great album and I highly recommend checking it out. Sare talks about the making of this album in the video below:

The mix kicks off with "Insinuation and Illusions" which is the second track on Escape Machine. The funky bassline outro segues flawlessly into Sare Halicek's dub version of "Getting Away With It" by Loudery. Sense Station, a gorgeous track also off of Escape Machine, may be my favorite track in this mix and on the entire album. I don't want to spoil the whole mix for you but another highlight is "Back to House" off of Dimitri from Paris and DJ Rocca's EP that was released last week. It was the third EP release by Gomma and is called Erodiscotique EP3. Its definately worth checking out if you haven't heard it already. Avanti's track "Show Your Moves" ends the mix with a bang that will leave you wanting more.

Tracklist:
1 - Sare Havlicek - Insinuations & Allusions
2 - Loudery - Getting Away With it (Sare Havlicek Dub)

Holiday Mixtape Grab Bag

The Holidays are upon us and today is my last day of work before an extended four day weekend.  Obviously I am working hard right now and not wasting time on the internet...  Anyway, its unseasonably warm in the mid-east right now and it looks like Christmas this year, will be mild instead of white.  If you are a procrastinator like me, you will be scrambling the next few days to fight the crowds and finish some last minute Christmas shopping.  I'm excited to spend time with my friends and family and have some free time to relax (and by relax, I mean rage).  Since, I probably won't be doing any more blog posts for the next few days I decided to make this one count.  Below is 5 different mixes for your dancing pleasure (Tracklists available for most of them on Soundcloud).  Enjoy the music and have a great holiday!

Sare Havlicek delivered an early Christmas present today and released his 3rd installment of his Disco Recreation mix tapes. The first two Disco Recreations (Episode 1 and Episode 2) are stellar.  Each one is two hours of some funky-get down-disco music.  This mix is only an hour but it packs a punch and has a lot of good tunes.

The Last Robots released their "Chart Mix" December today.  I just found out about this Polish DJ duo last month and began to wonder why so many DJs have "Robot" or "bot" in their name.  Maybe robots really like disco, who knows. How many can you name?  The mix itself is really solid, filled with plenty of tunes you will recognize.

Last week Villa released the Best of 2011 installment of their "in the mix" series.  This mix features 50 different tracks and remixes and yet is only an hour long.  It jumps from track to track rather rapidly but is a nice look back on some really good tunes from the past year.

Tronik Youth also just put out a Best of 2011 mix.  This one spends a little more time on each track as it is around 30 tracks and just under and hour and half.  Another great mix of some of the best tunes of the year.

Yuksek just posted this mix he did for Triple J radio.  I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet because of all of the other material that has come out recently.  I am excited to get to it though because Yuksek doesn't post many mixes on his soundcloud page.  From the tracklist it looks like about half Yuksek tracks/remixes and half tracks and remixes from other artists.

Sare Havlicek - Disco Recreation Episode 1

Do you like Nu/Disco? I can't get enough! It's Friday, so let's kick things off with some heat!

When I heard the opening track and saw the rest of the tracklist, I knew was in for long haul of this 2 hour mix. Sare Havlicek recently did a spot on Pure.FM called Disco Recreation: Episode 1, and he did it well. This set is full of NuDisco's recent dance floor hotness from the past from few months. Hit after hit are melded together with slick mixing. I love the cosmic tone of the set that takes when Proper Heat's "The Move" drops. Look out for Sare's "Can't Stop" and it's classic cosmic disco sound as well. There's not a minute wasted in this set...Enjoy!
