It’s Funkadelic Friday ya’ll! Today I wanted to bring you an arsenal of new music that I have stumbled upon these past few weeks. There were a lot of great EP’s and singles release this merry month of May (and April), so I figured do a new segment I’d like to call, “Oh, You Didn’t Know?”.
This is not a, “I know more than you” or “I know something you don't know” kind of deal. This is an opportunity to showcase some awesome music that I think deserves your attention. Now, do I have your attention? Good. Let’s get ready to put on our funk-face masks and gets to head bobbin’!
Summer has come and gone (Too quickly for my liking). But that doesn't mean the dance parties have to stop! Bringing in the month, Mighty Mouse has for us a get-down-and-dirty Disco mix. I love the overall tone of this one. It's not summer anymore, so let's get a little dark and away from the chilled out/feel good stuff, right?
I really liked Erkka's take on "I Don't Know What To Do". An otherwise summer anthem, turned synthed-out NuDisco dance party track. There's some good Italo sprinkled about, like Patrick Cowley's Megatron Man. There's a Black Strobe remix of Mustang's "Shooting for Love" that is full of deep, dark, dirty Disco/House goodness. But what I really loved, was the Villa remix of Beni's "Someone Just Like You" and Ace Attack's "In The Dark". A LOT of great tracks, and all mixed very well. This set gets the month started right! It captures Fall vibe yet keeps the dance party going. Enjoy!

It wouldn't be a proper Friday without some good ol' Disco! I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't supply you some NuDisco to get the dance party started. It would be downright shameful of me to not...never mind, you get it. Well August is nearly gone and as far this summer goes, we've heard some of the hottest mixes so far this year. Mighty Mouse say, "to hell with August, I'm gonna get September started right!" (not an actual quote). The London based group, just dropped a straight-to-the-point Disco/NuDisco mix (with hints of house, which seems obligatory lately). This is apparently the first of new series of monthly mixes as well as the start of a new venture for the group:
"Here's the first in our new monthly mixtapes. If you didn't know we announced this week that we separated the band away from Mighty Mouse and it will be called Empress, this way Mighty Mouse can get back to being a disco loving psychedelic mouse from space. So couldn't help putting lot's of tasty old disco in this mix with some exclusives!" (Soundcloud)
I hope this gets your Friday mid-day juices flowing. It's doing the job for me....Enjoy!
